Still coding
Still coding 0.2, is getting good. I am dealing with some Firefox issues right now. Hope my last creativity burst keeps going...
Firefox Widgets is a Firefox extension that puts tiny little widgets or web applications on a kind of desktop launched from Firefox

Great project! Looking forward to your release of v0.2
Encouragement and thumbs up to you and whomever else is on this project (there are others, right?)
I was going to write widgets for the Yahoo Widget Engine, but I'll wait for this one to become 0.9 instead. Given time, this will surpass all other widget implimentations. Of that I am certain.
I can't wait! I would love to try the new website overlay feature!
How realistic are the RAM measurements in "FAQ: How much of my precious RAM will it take?", considering there are so few fires, most of which couldn't possibly take up that much RAM anyway?
What about when "real" widgets are developped?
Will the Liquid Weather fire consume less RAM than Yahoo's, than Google's, than KDE's?
PS previous anon post "Encouragement and thumbs up to you" was me.
A few ideas: (not meant to bog you down, but instead to inspire and stimulate)
1) Take a look at what is generating the most buzz (and downloads) from the other widget engine providers (Yahoo, Google, KDE, DesktopX, Opera too) to ensure fires will be able to compete feature for feature. Which widgets / gadgets are most popular? How will fires be better? easier to code? to extend? etc. (Remember: Design first, code later) -- Then again, maybe continue with your roadmap, and if a complete re-write is needed further down the road, so be it?
2) Allow for fires to cooperate with other Firefox extensions - eg. so we could have a DownThemAll! fire.
3) Make provisions for fires to evolve into stand-alone apps (something DesktopX Pro "gadgets" can already do), requiring either Firefox itself to be installed (not a bad idea), or some kind of a Mozilla Runtime Environment - maybe it will be called or "Firefox Desktop" (a la Google).
idea #5:
Maybe then again, the stand-alone apps should have the *option* of being truly "stand-alone" (As DesktopX Pro "gadgets" currently are) and not have any external requirements - ie. embedding into the widget whatever is needed, one autonomous widget = one single app = one self-contained executable.
